Our Final Opening

Teaser Trailer For Our Thriller Opening

After researching different horror trailers we thought it would be a good idea to market our own opening. By doing so we used iMovie and selected interesting short clips from our original opening and put them together to make a short teaser trailer.

Evaluation 7 - Looking back at your preliminary task, what do feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Evaluation 6 - What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

During the process of making our opening to a thriller we used a wide range of technology.

Blogger:
We used Blogger as it was a good site for us to use as a blog. The whole reason for this is because it allowed us to post pictures and videos as well as wire ups of what we have been doing during the time of filming. By using blogger from the start it has allowed us to see how much has changed from the ideas that we first put together. We were able to use blogger at school and at home, we could also use it on iPhones and Android phones because there is an app that allows us to post from where ever we want.

Social Network Sites:
We used sites such as twitter and Instagram to allow the people that follow them accounts to see pictures and videos of what our video is looking like and then at the end to watch the full clip. The two sites were away for us to promote our thriller as it is free advertisement, this also gets people interested in watching our film. Accounts Twitter: CRAYonProductions Instagram: CRAYonmediaproductions

YouTube and Vine:
We used these two apps and websites because they are easy websites to upload videos on to. This helped us because Vine is 6 second videos and we could see if people liked bits of our film before we actually put it in to the final cut. We used YouTube to upload takes that we didn’t need in our film, as we thought this was a good way to get clips to the target audience.

Microsoft Publisher and PowerPoint:
We used Microsoft Publisher and PowerPoint a lot while making our movie, as they are easy to use and while we had to make a poster we thought Publisher was the easiest ne to use. We also used these two because it was a good way for us to get our film out to the target audience.

Apple iPhone and Sony Camera:
We used Apple iPhone to film part of our film as we thought it would be good idea to use different types of cameras to see what quality camera would suit our thriller better. In the end we used the Sony handheld camera as the quality of the camera made the thriller look better.

Pinnacle:
We used pinnacle to edit and put the clips that we wanted to use together to create a rough copies. Once feedback group watched the video we added more stuff and changed some stuff for the final cut of our video, this was easy on pinnacle as we created our own folder to put our clips in.

Final Poster

Our final poster, Captivates our audience with the blood red writing for our title 'sweet dreams', we used capitalisation to make the stalker character look a lot smaller than the space around him which creates the isolation of the setting, so the writing is the primary thing the audiences eye will see and the stalker deep in the forest after. The slogan we used 'hes closer than you think' gives the audience the suspense and thrill of the genre with the dark faded colours. The certificate 15 we chose to present on our poster to appeal to our exact target audience of 15 and above, teenagers either male or female.

Music

Little Girl Make Up

When doing the make up for the little girl we started by using talc on powder all over her face to create a pale effect to represent how she is lifeless and decayed. To create the dark bruises around her eyes we started by building up blue eye shadow on the top of her eyelid which made her eyes look bold. By then using a brown and black eye Shadow we covered the whole of her eye lid and smudged it down to her check bone which gave a dirty tired effect to represent how she hasn't slept. We finished by using the brown to create dirt effects over her face however only put the eye Shadow on her head so it wouldn't defeat the object of her being possessed.

The Swarm Sound Effects

We listened to different sound effects to create a sense of fear in our thriller opening. We knew we liked the sound effects used on the roller coaster 'The Swarm The Ride' so for inspiration we searched for different effects and found this clip which is filled with a vast majority of deep suspense sound effects.

Areas being considerd for our thriller

For one of the scenery option we will be shooting in a woods, two in Brentwood or one in Doddinghurst. We chose these locations as we feel as though they add to codes and conventions of a thriller. When watching past students thrillers they mostly used locations such as; abandoned houses/buildings , however by choosing a forest it creates isolation of there being no escape for our protagonist and is also different to what people have used before. We also felt that using different parts of the forests would work well for different scenes of our opening so, as group we made sure that we discussed what would and wouldn't work for what we wanted to do.

Preliminary Exercise

Preliminary exercise.

This was a continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and the exchanging a few lines of dialogue. Our task demonstrated match on action, shot reverse shot, and 180 degree rule. We filmed separate videos of the prelim we edited the clips with the app 'VidEditorFree'. We done this Easily as we shot the clips on an iPhone. Using this technology helped us to make a successful prelim.
