Music

Costumes

The costume designs that we had for our actors didn't change from our original pitch.

For the Stalker we had Jake dress in all black to show that he is a antagonist in the thriller, his costume consisted of a black Parka, Black skinny jeans and black blazers.

For the girl which is playing the victim was to dress as it was a normal day and she was out with her mates. She was dressed in Black ripped jeans, a grey jumper, with a red ribbon in her hair, wearing white converse. When She wakes up she is wearing all grey with a grey Yankees t-shirt, grey bottoms and grey socks still with the red bow in her hair.

For the little girl in the woods we used an old school uniform that was ripped up to show she had been dragged and the shirt has ripped with blood stains on it to show that the stalker had beaten her, this consisted of a white shirt with red all over it, a black skirt, black tights and black school shoes.

Little Girl Make Up

When doing the make up for the little girl we started by using talc on powder all over her face to create a pale effect to represent how she is lifeless and decayed. To create the dark bruises around her eyes we started by building up blue eye shadow on the top of her eyelid which made her eyes look bold. By then using a brown and black eye Shadow we covered the whole of her eye lid and smudged it down to her check bone which gave a dirty tired effect to represent how she hasn't slept. We finished by using the brown to create dirt effects over her face however only put the eye Shadow on her head so it wouldn't defeat the object of her being possessed.

Day 3

Day 3
Thorndon County Park
11:00 am

We needed to go back to the forest for the extra shots we had missed the first time we shot in the forest. Today we needed to shoot a shot of the stalker in the distance and gradually coming closer and closer and a shot of the stalker finally approaching the little girl and swinging a stick at the girl which would explain how she wakes up from her dream with a massive bruise on her neck. The stalker had to be carrying something heavy enough and big enough to knock down and leave a bruise on the girl, so for this part of filming we used a stick that was found on the day, as we had not really planned that part of the clip yet. It was only till we got back to school that we realised that the shots we took on Toms iphone 5s were all portrait and were useless, this is because Sir had asked us if we had filmed portrait or landscape.

Day 2
11:20AM
Tom's house - Doddinghurst.
Tom, Charlotte, Jake, Claudia

We arrived at Tom's house, unfortunately the weather was very bright and sunny, and for this part of our opening scene we needed it to be quite dark and a dim day because it was supposed to be 3:00am in the morning in our thriller. The natural light got in the way a bit from the window in the bathroom and bedroom so therefore we had to make it as dark as we possible could and use the light on the camera to enhance the characters facial features and movements. The hardest shot to film that day was the mirror angle shot and how the we had to film the character (Lily) washing her face and her bruise on her neck at an angle that we as filmer's couldn't be seen in the shot of the mirror. The continuity of the filming was very hard to perfect as we had to try to have Lily's hair in the exact same place as the last perfect shot or we would forget for her to lean down and suddenly her positioning would be completely different, therefore once we tried to accomplish many different shots and angles throughout this day of filming. After coming back to school and editing what we had we decided that most of the shots that were filmed are good but we need to get more good shots as we had some difficulty with the lighting in Tom's bathroom.

questionnaires

we asked people of a mixture of ages and a mix of females and males some questions we were considering as a group, in conclusion the majority of people we survived said that they expect suspense, death and tension in a thriller. they also said on an average that jaws and taken were there favourite thrillers to watch. a popular genre of a thriller was gangster and horror overall. the survey revealed that the typical music in a thriller/horror should have some kind of suspense element to it. The setting most expected by the audience was an abandoned house or some kind of isolated setting this would tie into the typical old dark house narrative. the victim chosen was a women, and the hero expected would be a final girl or a typical strong smart male hero.

Dairy of a day filming

Day 1
Filming in North Thorndon country park
time: 3:45
Claudia, Jake, Tom, Sophie, and Charlotte

We started the day by going to charlottes house with her sister to do make-up and sort out any props we needed. We had already scouted for the perfect location for filming the first forest scene. When we arrived, it was raining slightly however this wasnt a disadvantage as when we edit the scenes, it will give a good affect. We started filming the first shot from various different angles, this allowed us to have a variety to choose from so we could get the best shot. Although it was freezing cold and now pouring with rain our charcters still percivered with the repetative shots we had to do. the hardest shot we found to do was the 360 pan of the forest to esablish the location straight away to our audience, the tripod we used was very stiff to turn and was a struggle not to judder the camera, after trying a few times with this shot, we decided to use a shot on tom iphone at the start of our film to put with the titles, of a portrait angle of the woods as we were driving along, out the window. We also found it hard to producea high angle shot, Tom tried to climb some trees to get a higher shot of claudia laying on the floor in her dream however because of the weather conditions it was unsafe and slippery for him to do so. The footage we ended up with for this day was deffinetly good to use for the final cut of the film as we filmed form lots of different angles for a good dream seqence. however as we ran out of time, because the park was closing and we were all very cold and wet, we had to skip a bit of the dream sequence for another rainy day at the same time so the lighting would be at a good continutity.
